Plans and the free trial
Family Trees is free for one family of up to 100 people. Plus removes the limits and adds printing, transcripts and the map. Lifetime is the same as Plus, paid for once.

Trying, keeping or cancelling Plus
Start the free trial
Open Settings from the gear on the Album and tap Upgrade to Plus, or tap any Plus feature. Choose Family Trees Plus and tap Start free trial. Everything in Plus unlocks straight away.
Get a reminder
Family Trees sends one notification two days before the trial ends, so the first charge is never a surprise. If notifications aren’t on yet, it asks right after the trial starts: choose Remind Me. Settings also shows the day the trial ends, under Plan.
Cancel if it isn’t for you
In Family Trees, open Settings and tap Manage subscription. Or open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends and you won’t be charged.
Keep Plus
Do nothing, and $39.99 is charged to your Apple Account when the trial ends, then once a year until you cancel.
Switch to Lifetime
In Settings, tap Switch to Lifetime to buy it once. Then cancel Plus in your subscriptions so it doesn’t renew. Until you do, Settings says Plus is still renewing, with a Manage subscription button to cancel it.

On a new device, open Settings in Family Trees and tap Restore Purchases. Purchases follow your Apple Account.
Tips
- If Plus ends, nothing is deleted. Your family stays on your device and you can keep viewing and editing it. Adding people past 100, more trees, GEDCOM import and the other Plus features wait until Plus is back.
- Prices are in US dollars here; the App Store shows your local price.
- The 7-day free trial is for new subscribers and includes everything in Plus.
