Making a family book
A family book gathers everyone into pages you can print and give: portraits, dates, places, relationships and the stories you’ve written down.
Steps
Open the family book
On the Share tab, tap Family book under Print. Or, on someone’s page, tap ••• and choose the book about their family, such as Make a Book About Margaret’s Family.
Choose who it’s about
Under About, pick Whole family, or the Ancestors or Descendants of one person; tap their name to choose someone else. Everyone in the book has a page of their own.
Choose the paper and what goes in
Pick A4 or Letter, and turn Photos, Memories and Notes on or off. You can change the Title too.
Page through it
Family Trees lays out the pages on your device as you choose, and you can swipe through them as they’ll print: a cover, the contents, the family tree, a page for each person with their life, family and photos, and an index.
Share, print or save
Tap Share to send the PDF to a print shop or photo-book service, Print to print it, or Save to keep it in Files.
Tips
- Write a few lines in each person’s Notes before you make the book. They become the story on that person’s page.
- A recorded memory appears in the book as a quote from its transcript, so only memories with a transcript are included.
- The book is made on your device. Nothing is uploaded to create it.
- Anyone can leaf through the pages. The finished book is part of Plus, and the free trial includes it.
