Blended family tree template

Free printableUpdated 19 October 2026

Short answerA blended family tree shows more than one couple per parent: former and current partners, children from each relationship, half-siblings and stepchildren. The template below uses a solid line for current couples, a dashed line for former ones and a dotted line for step links, so every child sits under the right parents.

The template

Blank blended family tree template: 9 empty boxes for names and years.

Open the file in your browser and print it (choose landscape and “fit to page”), or open it in any app that reads SVG to type into it. Free to print, copy and share.

How to fill it in

  1. Write the parent in the second box and their current partner in the third.
  2. Former partners go at each end, joined by dashed lines.
  3. Children go under the couple they come from; a child of the current couple is a half-sibling to the others.
  4. Draw a dotted line from a stepparent to a stepchild who lives with or is close to them.

Who it suits
